The shading and the contrasts in your portraits are
quite skilled. I know I have been working hard in my earlier portraits from last Summer and it amazes me how being in dA has helped me to improve my skills, especially with the shading and contrast. I knew I was skilled but not THAT skilled xD Anyhow, I had to redo several of my portraits in order for them to look better after I scanned them...and it has been a process that I had to experience with each drawing, through trial and error mostly...and then mistakes and heartaches that comes along on whether a drawing will turn out like I wanted it to look.
I don't often redo a portrait... I don't like it, I prefer do another portrait of the same person. But I understand you want to improve older portraits
